Finch's Restaurant

Finch's Restaurant in Raleigh is a Southern diner style restaurant known for it's low prices and delicious breakfast. Dine at stools at the counter or dine at a table. Outside, the parking lot area looks like the remnants of an old drive-in restaurant. How long has Finch's been in business? Did there used to be a drive-in here? Does anyone know?

The Mecca Restaurant

With an old cash register, this restaurant only accepts cash. You'll find an original neon sign, original old wooden booths, plus old stools at the counter. Just like the old days, the soft drinks have no free refills. This is an original downtown oldie for a hamburger or a cup of coffee.

The Players' Retreat (aka PR)

"Welcome to the Players' Retreat. . . . In 1951, Bernie and Mickey Hanula founded the institution known as the Players' Retreat. Less of a bar and restaurant, and more of a family, the PR (as it is affectionately known) remains a popular respite for the young and the old, the rich and the poor. It is a place where people from all walks of life rub elbows, share toasts, good times and laughs. At 56 years old, very little has changed since its humble beginnings. In 1994 Pete Jarrell took over the PR and continued the tradition. read more...

I believe Andy's Pizza originally opened in the 70's, however, I am not sure if they still use the original recipe. Does anyone know?

Amadeo's Italian Restaurant

"Raleigh, NC is a long way from Reading, PA, yet Amedeo "Dick" DeAngelis made the trek to play football for the mighty NC State Wolfpack in 1954. Playing on a scholarship, he was a long way from home and he greatly missed "home cooking". The idea of opening a small Italian restaurant seemed the most effective way to alleviate the homemade recipes from his mother and grandmother and in 1963, a 12-seat restaurant opened on Western Boulevard in Raleigh. read more...
