Jack of the Wood in Asheville, NC opened in 1996, but it has a much older, earlier feel to it since it's a Celtic style pub, which may remind you of an early tavern. Sip a pint, and listen to Irish music or early mountain music (music events are listed on their site). Their menu and ale choices feature quite a variety of options.
