Happy Birthday to Grease's Sweetest Pink Lady and Beauty School Dropout, Didi Conn!

Sweet and lovable Didi Conn turns 60 today!

I was just a little girl when I first saw her as Frenchy in the movie "Grease", but she already seemed so familiar to me. My brother and I watched that movie so many times while growing up, and we always used to say how she reminded us of Raggedy Ann. Now as an adult I have discovered that the reason Frenchy / Didi Conn reminded us of Raggedy Ann was because Didi Conn was the voice of Raggedy Ann in the 1978 children's movie, "Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure", a movie we had seen the year before and loved. I'm actually surprised that two little kids can associate a voice they heard in a movie with an actress they saw in a different movie a year later.

Maybe that's because Didi Conn has such a unique, lovable voice. Her Brooklyn accent combined with her voice makes it even more special.

Didi Conn was born in Brooklyn, New York July 13, 1951. Today she continues to act, but she is also a celebrity spokesperson for Autism Speaks: http://www.autismspeaks.org/about-us/press-releases/didi-conn-named-national-celebrity-spokesperson-autism-speaks
