Radio Flyer Red Wagon CAR

We've seen some neat novelty cars over the years, but this one has to be the CUTEST. This isn't a little red wagon. It's a BIG one. In fact, it was once a 1976 Mazda pick-up truck. It can still be driven legally, just the same as if it was still a pick-up truck.

Cute, huh! The couple in Alaska who created it spent about a year making it. To learn more about it, and to see a news video on it, look here: http://www.ktuu.com/news/ktuu-radio-flyer-car-092910,0,1784245.story read more...

Happy Birthday, Le Corbusier, modern architect of yesterday, whose architecture is still modern today!

Tomorrow is the birthday of Le Corbusier, who was born on October 6, 1887. It has been 45 years since he passed away in 1965, yet the architecture he designed in his life STILL looks modern.  read more...

Proud To Be A Coal Miner's Daughter

Witnessing each Chilean miner getting rescued has been such a beautiful, gorgeous, STUNNING example of what can happen when humans work together to get things done. You could't help but get goosebumps watching each man come out of that capsule alive, after surviving underground for 69 days. All 33 men survived. They range in age from 19 to 64.  read more...

Christmas in the 1930's

Christmas was so much simpler in the 1920's and 1930's when I was a girl and a teenager than it is now as a mother in the 1950's. I think it must have been simpler on my mother too. My sisters and I usually had only one or two gifts every year that we really wanted. My children, in contrast, have already begun making their long lists for their letter to Santa Claus.  read more...

Visiting an Old, Abandoned Hospital and Mortuary

How much time could you spend in an old, abandoned hospital and mortuary?

Well, the people in this video were way more brave about hanging out in this abandoned hospital and mortuary in Scotland than I would have been, that's for sure!

Could you even imagine getting into the same freezer where thousands of bodies were stored over many years? Not me.

And yet, I don't have a fear of WATCHING the video. It does give me the creeps, but just enough of the creeps to kick off Halloween week.  read more...

100 Years Ago: Halloween in the early 1900's

This antique Halloween photo was taken around the turn of the century. The person who posted it on YouTube estimated that it is from 1910.

It's lovely to see their interpretation of Halloween costumes back then. I could get really lost in a photo like this, staring at it for a long time, studying each person's costume, their face expressions, etc.

It's also fun to imagine what any of those people would look like if they were living in the present.

Enjoy looking at these Halloween party animals of 100 years ago!

Halloween through the 1940's - Scarier and Sexier than Halloween Today

I just found this video on YouTube of Halloween images from the early 1900's through the 1940's. The vintage Halloween music is great, the photos are great... this is a fantastic video!

I had to keep pausing the video on some of the scary costumes because they looked so disturbing. Although they are much more simple than today's elaborate rubber masks, the vintage masks of the past look much scarier! Even the homemade costumes look way more terrifying than today's scary costumes. Sometimes, less really is more.  read more...
